Replace Abbreviations
From the "Tools Menu" choose "Replace Abbreviations" or Quick Key Press CTRL + A
If you enter an appliance description in your PAT Tester you can use abbreviations instead of typing the full words. For example you can use HP instead of typing Hewlett Packard. Once yuor tests have been downloaded you can use the Replace Abbreviations command to convert those abbreviations into full words.
Rather than having a standard set of abbreviations that you can use, we have provided some common ones we think may be useful and then you can add your own ones that might more properly reflect the type and make of appliances you test. See Also Maintain Abbreviations for information on how to add your own abbreviations.
See Before
testing with your PAT for more information on where you PAT tester stores
the appliance description.
You need to take
care not to get too ambitious with your abbreviations as SimplyPats can only
store Appliance Descriptions of 40 characters so its a good idea to maybe store
on abbreviation for Computer e.g. CO and one for Hewlett Packard e.g. HP. Then
in the field when you are testing your appliance you can enter CO HP as the
appliance description. This will then be converted into Computer Hewlett Packard,
saving you time and effort whilst testing.
