If you
have problems in downloading data from your PAT, check the following:
- Is the cable
that you are using to download the one supplied with the PAT or one purchased
from the manufacturer. Cables purchased from computer vendors which they describe
as serial cables are usually not, they are usually serial extension cables
and will not work. Some PAT testers use very specifically wired cables, you
can see the wiring diagrams for all the PAT testers that SimplyPats supports
here: Wiring the Download Cable
- Is your cable
linking the PAT to your computer fully plugged in at both ends?
- If you are using
a USB to Serial converter is it one that we have recommended and are the drivers installed correctly?
- If you are using
a USB to Serial converter is the manufacturers download cable also connected
to the USB to Serial converter.?
- Have you read
the section relating to downloading data in your PAT Manual?
- Have you double
checked the Baud Rate on the PAT Tester and in the Program?
- Are you sure
which Com Port your cable is plugged into?
- Is your PAT
sending data in the correct format? SimplyPats usually requires the data to
be sent in one specific format and the PAT testers may have the ability to
download in various formats. See - Downloading
From Your PAT
- If you are
using a Seaward Europa+ and Supernova+ and a USB to Serial converter, have
you tried ticking the USB to Serial converter box on the System Settings Screen?
- Are you sure
the com port you are using isnt being blocked by another program? e.g. Mobile
Phone software, Camera Software, PDA Software, GPS Software?
- Have you tried
exiting the SimplyPats program and restarting it?
- Have you tried
switching off the PAT and restarting it?
- Have
you checked your download cable for a fault? See - Wiring
The Download Cable
- Have you tried
downloading a later version of SimplyPats from the internet? Go to RSR Systems
